Don’t forget to ‘green’ your Halloween. Follow these R3 eco-tips and treat yourself to an eco-friendly Halloween without tricking the planet!

RECYCLE

Offer previously owned costumes to family, friends and neighbors. Try to use recycled paper goods for decorations. Be sure to compost pumpkins and leftover party treats after Halloween.

REUSE

Repurpose household goods and existing clothes to create a costume instead of purchasing one every year. As you’re scavenging the house for materials keep an eye out for containers to use for trick-or-treat bags. Don’t forget to save any unused party materials for next year or your next social event.

REDUCE

Buy treats and decorations that are locally produced or sustainably sourced. Also try mixing in non-candy treats like bubbles, mini crayon packs, hair bows and hot wheel cars.

REPEAT

Build these eco-tips into your Halloween tradition every year! Encourage friends, family and neighbors to do the same.
